Project Goal:
To foster the establishment of blue businesses that mitigate marine plastic pollution through education and expert business development support.
Project Objectives:
- To train at least 25 people through comprehensive 30-hour training in plastic pollution, communication and business skills.
- Operationalize a blue business accelerator design for application beyond the initial project scope and in collaboration with 2 to 4 core implementation partners.
- To support the establishment of two blue businesses that mitigate plastic pollution in Belize’s marine and coastal environments.
Expected Outputs:
- Complete a 30-hour PSA curriculum that will help to build capacity in launching blue businesses that reduce plastic pollution.
- Train at least 25 people (17 years old>) from diverse communities countrywide to use the PSA curriculum.
- Socialize key PSA curriculum topics with at least four government, non-government institutions, corporations and two coastal municipalities.
- Develop blue business prototypes for submission to a competitive fellowship.
- Refine and use the PSA Accelerator business mentorship program to provide guidance to PSA fellows in environmental science and business design.
- Formalize and implement a feedback mechanism to support PSA fellows in product development.
- Establish a structured network of support resources to provide comprehensive business advisory services.
- Award at least two alumni placements in the PSA Fellowship Accelerator Program.
