Project Goal:

To create a Belize Barrier Reef Watch database of resilient reefs, hope spots, and biodiversity sightings for marine resource management. 

Project Objectives:

  1. To train more stakeholders to become citizen scientists and submit educated and valuable reports. 
  2. To garner community support for the Belize Barrier Reef Watch to become self-sustainable.

Expected Outputs:

  1. Produce outreach materials such as handbook, brochure, marine field guides. 
  2. Conduct media campaigns on radio and talk-shows. 
  3. Host 2nd Annual Reef Champion Competition. 
  4. Launch Phase III of the Action Camera Program. 
  5. Establish and maintain the BBRW (Belize Barrier Reef Watch) Database in ArcGIS. 
  6. Publish a multi-year report with highlights of the BBRW Database. 
  7.  Establish a “Blue” certification program, in collaboration with partners. 
  8. Create a membership package and recognition certificate for distribution. 
  9. Conduct targeted meetings with communities to promote Reef Champion membership and “Blue” certificate program.
