The Belize Fund is now an official Member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) — the world’s largest environmental network. 🌊
So, what does this mean?
It means the Belize Fund is now part of a global community of organisations working together to safeguard nature, strengthen climate resilience, and support sustainable development.
For Belize, this creates opportunities to share knowledge, build partnerships, learn from global conservation experiences, and contribute Belize’s own perspectives and solutions to international conversations about our ocean and natural resources.
As the private conservation trust fund established under Belize’s Blue Bond initiative, the Belize Fund was created to provide long-term financing for the conservation and sustainable management of Belize’s marine space.
“Joining IUCN strengthens our ability to learn, collaborate, and contribute to international conservation efforts. We are proud to play an active role in shaping the global policies that determine what that future looks like. We bring Belize’s story to this network: the lessons of sustainable ocean financing, the urgency of a coastal nation on the frontlines, and a deep commitment to getting conservation right.” — Dr. Leandra Cho-Ricketts, Executive Director, Belize Fund.
We’re proud to see Belize represented within a global network of more than 1,500 organisations committed to building a more sustainable future for people and nature.
