Draft BSOP
The Belize Sustainable Ocean Plan (BSOP) is Belize’s national framework for Marine Spatial Planning (MSP). It guides the sustainable use and management of the country’s ocean space, including its internal waters, territorial sea, and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Built through a participatory, science-based, and adaptive process, the BSOP supports a balanced approach to conservation, sustainable development, and the growth of Belize’s Blue Economy. The plan outlines key components including its purpose, governance structure, vision, guiding principles, goals, zoning design, and spatial information related to Belize’s priority marine and coastal sectors.
Open for 60-Day Public Inspection
As part of the formal adoption process, the BSOP is now open for a 60-day public inspection and review period. Stakeholders and members of the public are invited to explore the plan, share feedback, and contribute to shaping the future sustainable management of Belize’s ocean space.
